This African Violet Cake was a special request for a woman
who is celebrating her 95th birthday.
It is a double vanilla cake with buttercream frosting,
covered in fondant, Oreo cookies for dirt and
over 80 colorful African Violets
(I may actually have gotten to 95, but I lost count. :-))
I think that this was my most extreme cake so far
as I had to taper the bottom
of the cake so that it looked like a potted plant
BUT I couldn't taper it too much so that when they
continue to cut the cake, it would still stand up once
half of it was gone.
It's amazing how much architectural work goes into a cake!
